Rewind ten years and it was a fresh-faced Jorge Lorenzo who opened the 2010 show in style at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. Stepping out onto the stage to applause from crowds, the 2010 MotoGP Champion showed off his extremely special Swarovski helmet and greeted visitors at the grand opening of the show.

The helmet was an iconic showpiece and was the actual X-802 helmet that he’d worn when he won the Championship at Valencia. Made to celebrate Jorge’s amazing year, X-Lite made an extremely small amount of replicas which were finished in eight layers of paint and the impregnation of gold pigment – topped off with around 1800 hand-laid Swarovski crystals…

He was joined by a rider he described as “really fast…too much fast” and “really nice guy”, none other than Cal Crutchlow who it had been announced would be moving up to the MotoGP paddock after finishing fifth in the World Superbike Championship in 2010. Cal would go on to end his Rookie season in MotoGP in 12th place in the Championship and be awarded ‘Rookie of the Year’ award after bagging his best result of the season, fourth place in Valencia.
