Suzuki celebrates 50 years of Sheene’s success
Suzuki will celebrate Barry Sheene’s success at this year’s MCL, with 2026 marking 50 years since his first 500 Grand Prix world title.
On display on the Suzuki stand will be Sheene’s 1976 XR14, the factory version of the iconic RG500 race bike that carried him to his first of two premier class crowns.
The bike was gifted to Sheene – Britain’s last world champion in the blue riband class of motorcycle racing – as a thank you for his success, and was kept at the family home in Australia, before being flown back to the UK in 2016, along with his 1977 championship-winning RG500.
Displayed alongside the ’76 bike is a 2026 GSX-R1000R, finished in a Heron Suzuki tribute livery and adorned with Sheene’s iconic no. 7.
